Braid

About: Braid is an award-winning puzzle-platformer that immerses players in a sparkly watercolor world where time is a malleable entity and the terms “before” and “after” become interchangeable. As you jump, climb, and waddle your way through the levels on your journey to rescue an abducted princess you’ll be introduced to an entirely new way of thinking and problem solving.

Developer: Number None

Demo Available: Yes!

MetaScore: 90/100

Genre: Indie, Strategy, Puzzle, Casual, Awesome

Price: $14.99 on Steam (Once you play the free demo, this price will seem much more reasonable)

Osmos

About: This game is difficult to explain, but the gameplay feels a whole lot like what watching rain bead up on your windshield feels like. A little bit slow, but still satisfying. Osmos is composed of 47 levels of hypnotic, physics-based gameplay, accompanied by electro-ambient music.

Developer: Hemisphere Games

Demo Available: Yes!

Metascore: 82/100

Genre: Casual, indie, experimental.

Price: $9.99 on Steam

Windosill

About: Windosill is one of those quirky, and sometimes really confusing puzzle-adventure games where in each level your objective is to unlock a door, exit one bizarre room, enter another even more bizarre room, and repeat. It’s a problem solving mini-game full of exploration and adorable artwork, and best of all you can play a couple levels of it for free at www.windosill.com.

Developer: Vectorpark, Inc.

Demo Available: Yes!

Genre: Casual, indie, adventure, physics.

Price: $2.99 on Steam

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity

About: If you have anything more than a mild/average fear of heights, you might not enjoy this game. AaaaaAAaaa is an SSX-esque sports game that consists solely of falling, and falling for mile upon mile while trying not to clip any buildings in the process (lest you break "all two of your legs"). You're awarded teeth (points) depending on how many buildings you "hug" during your descent, plus bonus teeth for waving to your fans and flipping off people who are protesting you.

Developer: Dejobaan Games, LLC

Demo Available: Yes!

Genre: Sports, indie, action, falling.

Price: $14.99

Darwinia (Writer's Pick!)

About: This game is awesome.

Darwinia is a simple strategic battle game set in a pixely retro world, styled in a way that's reminiscent of the beginnings of PC gaming. It incorporates organizing your soldiers and engineers, and most importantly coordinating a safe passage for the adorable little 2-dimensional green race know as the Darwinians. It's a bit less casual than these other games, and in order to play you'll need to listen to the tutorial, but once you know the basics, the rest comes intuitively.

machinima

These may not be quite as funny to people who aren't familiar with half life, but maybe they will be. anyway, they're some of my favorite machinima.

First there's the gman squad, they are awesome. so, here's the entire series, in one embedded youtube player (weird right? i just realized you could do that, it's cool)

Then there's freeman's mind, which is fucking amazing. Although, you've probably, definitely had to have played a little bit of half life to appreciate gordon freeman being an awesome, obnoxious douche-cake bad ass. Again, here's all the episodes:

oh, internets

i love the internet on april fools day.
